On Saturday, September 27, the Chorale performed its fall concert. The repertoire was as varied as possible, with the overarching theme of “Songs of the People.” Each fall concert, the Chorale features many of its members as soloists and in small ensembles. The choir amazed the audience with vocal jazz renditions of familiar songs and brought the house down with a heart-wrenching version of “Big Yellow Taxi.” Artistic director Joe Eveler has a gift for inspired conducting and for finding the perfect songs to showcase the talent of the Chorale. Each concert is performance art at its finest.
On Saturday, Oct 26, the CCF was invited to sing with the Fredericksburg Symphony Orchestra in a concert featuring the music of Matt Riley, where we debuted a new choral arrangement of his arrangement of “Ode to Joy”. It is always a thrill to sing with the 36 professional voices of the CCF. Imagine taking those same 36 voices singing with a 60-piece orchestra in front of 1,000 people! What an incredible evening we had! The energy in the room was palpable! I think it is safe to say everyone was blown away.
