The Chamber Chorale of Fredericksburg, now under the direction of Michael O'Brien, was founded in 1989 as a small ensemble dedicated to performing high-quality choral music in a wide variety of styles for the cultural enrichment of the community. From a capella singing to major chamber works with orchestra, this 24-voice group has been noted for its fine tuning, blended tone, wide range in dynamics, and expressive diversity.
The Chamber Chorale performs 3-4 concerts a year in the Fredericksburg area and participates in various regional events and concert series around the Commonwealth. Noteworthy performances in past seasons have included
- Fredericksburg Festival of the Arts Annual Music Festival in 1996
- the commission and world premiere of two works by Virginia composers in 1999
- Lakeside United Methodist Church Concert Series in Richmond in 2000
- 250th Anniversary Concert Series at Aquia Church in 2001
- American Choral Directors Association Regional Conference at Shenandoah University in 2003.
In 2001 the Chorale expanded to include the Youth Chorale.
The Chamber Chorale of Fredericksburg is a non-profit performing arts ensemble, relying on continuing financial support from those who appreciate what we do. Please consider joining the individuals and businesses who will help make our music possible next season. Thank you in advance for your support.
